NFTY Texas-Oklahoma Regional Director & URJ Greene Family Camp Assistant Director
Born in Plano, TX, Ethan began working with Jewish youth as a teacher and youth group advisor at his home congregation of Adat Chaverim and as a counselor at Camp Chai at the Jewish Community Center of Dallas. After graduating from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX he moved to Cherry Hill, NJ where he worked as the Director of Youth Engagement at Temple Emanuel. In 2016, Ethan completed HUC's certificate program for Jewish Education Specializing in Adolescents and Emerging Adults. Ethan returned to Texas in 2017 as an Assistant Director on URJ Greene Family Camp’s year-round programs team and assumed the role of NFTY-TOR Regional Director in 2019. When not at NFTY-TOR or GFC events you can find Ethan working on a new Lego project, watching baseball, or enjoying a board game with friends.
Rabbi Andrew Terkel
URJ Greene Family Camp Director of Year Round Programs
A long-time GFC camper and staff member, Rabbi Andrew Terkel grew up in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and at Temple Israel in Tulsa. As a teenager, he was the President of NFTY Texas-Oklahoma. After receiving his undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas, Andrew was a fellow with the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL). After completing his fellowship, he went on to study for the rabbinate at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. While at HUC, he was the song leader at the URJ Kutz Camp in NY and served a number of synagogues throughout the Los Angeles area. Before arriving at Greene, Rabbi Terkel served as the assistant rabbi at Congregation Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim in Charleston, South Carolina and as the Regional Rabbinic Advisor for NFTY Southern Area. His wife Hannah, an incredible Jewish educator in her own right, is an alumna of URJ Olin-Sang-Ruby Camp in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
