NFTY-TOR Winter Conclave

Co-hosted by Temple Beth-El in San Antonio, TX, Winter Conclave is a home-hosted event for 9th-12th graders from across our region and 8th graders from the local San Antonio community. Teens will see friends old and new from across Texas & Oklahoma, learn from our featured speaker Abby Stein, celebrate Shabbat with a unique teen-led Shabbat service in a park, enjoy meaningful teen-led programs & experiences, and have time to explore San Antonio.

All NFTY-TOR events are teen planned and run with the support of adult professionals. Winter Conclave has been planned by a local committee of teens from Temple Beth-El in consultation with the teen leaders serving on the NFTY-TOR regional board, ensuring that the weekend blends the best of NFTY-TOR with all that San Antonio has to offer.

About our featured speaker, Abby Stein:

Abby Stein is a rabbi, educator, author, speaker, and activist, born and raised in a Hasidic family of rabbinic descent, now working to raise support and awareness for trans rights and those leaving Ultra-Orthodoxy. She co-founded Sacred Space, and her book, Becoming Eve, was published in November. We’re thrilled that Abby will be joining us for the weekend to share her story with our community!

NFTY-TOR Winter Conclave would not be possible without our partner congregation: Temple Beth-El. Members of the congregation are invited to serve as host-homes for the weekend. Hosting NFTYites is a great inter-generational opportunity and a way to give back to the Jewish community and sow the seeds for our community’s future! We hear consistently from host families that hosting teens in their homes is a ton of fun! Young families can get a window into what their future Jewish engagement can look like, and empty-nesters get the chance to have teens back in their homes! Our teen participants are always VERY grateful and respectful to their host families.
